Latest Newsletter

The After School Care Club is based at Wood End First School. The Club provides childcare for children aged between two and seven years and operates between the times of 3.00—4.15pm and 3.00—5.15pm, Monday to Friday during school term times.

The service provided comprises the caring for and supervision of children that attend between the hours shown above.

You can register your interest using the form attached. Please return this form to the school office. To book sessions, separate booking forms are available from the school office or from the attachment below. If you would like more information, please contact us on 01908 316424 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

On registering your child with the After School Care Club, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions of membership.

 Terms and Conditions

The After School Care Club at Wood End First School has the following Terms and Conditions to ensure parents/carers know and understand their and our responsibilities. The Club is a new initiative so these Terms and Conditions may be updated in due course.

Punctuality: Parents/carers of children attending are expected to collect them from the After School Care Club promptly in accordance with the times shown above. If you are running late, please contact the school so that arrangements can be made for staff to stay on site with your child. We need to retain two members of staff on site with any children. We may therefore consider requesting a late collection fee to cover their additional hours.

Contact/medical details: Parents/carers must ensure the office has the correct contact details for you, and any medical information concerning your child. It is of the utmost importance that we are able to contact you in the event of an emergency.

Lost property: Parents/carers must be aware that Wood End does not accept any responsibility for the loss of or damage to any property left at the Club.

How to book and pay: All bookings are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Bookings must be paid for in advance. Please be aware your child’s place will not be guaranteed until full payment has been received. This is because we need to know numbers so that we can ensure we have enough staff on site. Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer. Please provide us with payment by 12.00pm on the Friday before the care is needed. The club costs £4 per day per child to stay till 4.15pm or £8 per day pe child to stay till 5.15pm.

Cancellations, refunds, transfers: If your child is not attending the club on their usual day please contact the school office as soon as possible. Wood End will make every effort to refund or transfer your payment in the event that your child is sick or unable to attend, however we are under no obligation to do so. We cannot refund/transfer missed sessions if the Club is cancelled due to events beyond our control, such as an emergency school closure.

The Education Act 1996 states that education during school hours should be free of charge but schools are able to seek voluntary contributions for certain school activities. There is no obligation for parents to contribute and pupils will not be treated differently according to whether or not their parents have made a contribution. Trips or events however may be cancelled if insufficient contributions are received. Where educational activities are provided by a third party its charges will be passed on to the parents of participating pupils.

There may be occasional charges for arts, craft or cooking where the finished article is taken home.

It is expected that all children will wear school uniform. The agreed uniform consists of:

  • Black/grey trousers, skirt or pinafore dress
  • White shirt, polo top or short sleeved T-shirt (no tops with straps)
  • Maroon sweatshirts, jumper or cardigan
    • Sensible shoes or trainers (no flip-flops, platforms or shoes with heels). Children should also wear socks

Sweatshirts with the school logo can be bought from Maisies in Wolverton. All other items are available from major stores and supermarkets at a very reasonable cost and the school sometimes has second hand items available.

We also expect children to have a pair of named wellies in school for our Forest School activities.

All clothes (including coats and plimsolls) should have the child’s name in so that misplaced items can be returned as quickly as possible.

Provider of School Uniform is Maisies in Wolverton. They hold a stock of      embroidered uniform items in all sizes, sweatshirts, sweat-cardies, T- shirts, PE kits. They also hold stocks of all other uniform items, trousers, skirts, plimsolls, etc.

 Uniform can be purchased by:

  • Visiting Maisies shop at 60-64 Church Street, Wolverton, MK12 5JW

  • Visiting Maisies website, with free delivery to School - - delivery to home comes with a P&P charge.

NB:  Book packs will be available from School only

Head's Welcome Message

Welcome to our school website. I hope you enjoy looking at all the information and photographs of our school.

In March 2017 we were visited by Ofsted and they said

"You, the staff and the governing body are ambitious for all pupils"

"Pupils' personal development comes first in this school that some describe as 'a family community'"

We are working very hard to further accelerate pupils' progress in maths and help children use punctuation in their writing with greater accuracy.

The best way to find out about our school is to come and visit us. Please phone the school on (01908) 316424 to arrange a visit and then you can see the children at work.  We look forward to seeing you soon.

Claire Wilson
